Midco owns and operates the region’s largest fiber network, with plans to expand to 22,000 total fiber miles by 2030. Part of that expansion now includes the Frazee market.

“This expansion ensures we can deliver the speeds, reliability and performance needed to power homes and businesses now and into the future,” said Bob Bartelt, Senior Director of Customer Experience Operations.

Midco approached the Frazee City Council in July of 2022 when Vice President Justin Forde sought approval to construct a state-of-the-art fiber network in the community.

Over the next year, Midco completed its fiber installation in Detroit Lakes and received approval from the Frazee council in April of 2023.

This past July, Midco representatives were in the area to celebrate bringing fiber to the Frazee area, offering multi-gig internet speeds for homes and even faster speeds for businesses through dedicated fiber solutions.

“Midco is investing $2.6 million into a state-of-the-art Fiber-to-the-Premises broadband service to nearly 900 homes and businesses in the community,” Midco Vice President of Field Operations Steve Mattern said.

Established in 1931, Midco has a long history of providing reliable, high-speed internet via cutting-edge fiber technology. The company also offers TV services, including Midco Sports (a regional sports network), as well as phone, data center, advertising, and wholesale networking services.

“You may have seen us building in your community. Construction will continue through this spring, with nearly 900 homes and businesses in the Frazee area gaining access to Midco’s multi-gig internet, TV and phone services,” Bartelt said.

Midco also stresses the importance of being part of the communities they serve by investing in local businesses through Midco Foundation grants and employee volunteer programs.

Midco serves more than 400,000 customers in five states: Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Kansas and Wisconsin.

“Midco covers more of the Midwest than ever before—and we’re continuing to expand. We look forward to contributing to the Frazee community, being part of its growth and bringing best-in-class internet and TV services to our customers,” said Midco Chief Operating Officer Ben Dold.
