0Curious about birdwatching? Winter is a great time to start your birding journey! Join Park Naturalist Dora at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 28, for an hour of birdwatching basics at Glendalough State Park.
We’ll learn to identify common winter bird species, discuss ways to look for our feathered friends, and even test our newfound skills on a short stroll in the park! There will be opportunities to try binoculars and flip through a variety of bird field guides. All ages are welcome! Meet at the Dining Hall to learn about wintery feathered friends.
Please dress accordingly for the weather that day. This program will be held indoors and outdoors. If the weather does not allow for a short stroll outdoors, participants will remain inside. The outdoor stroll will be less than a mile on a flat, snow-covered lawn, at the edge of the woods and lakeshore. Binoculars will be available for use during the program, but if those have their own, are welcome to bring them.
All equipment and instruction are provided for free, but a vehicle permit ($7 for a one-day permit or $35 for a year-round permit) is required to enter all Minnesota State Parks. Children must be accompanied by an adult. For more information, call (218) 261-6900.
