Rural Vergas fire destroys shed, multiple vehicles on Dec. 27

0A large shed and several vehicles were destroyed in a morning fire in rural Vergas on Friday, Dec. 27.
A neighbor alerted owner Wesley Sorenson, 70, of a shop fire at 1:30 a.m., according to a news release from the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s office. The 32×56-foot shed was unoccupied at the time and fully engulfed in flames by the time crews arrived.
Area fire crews put out the fire at 29000 block of Candor Hall Road that resulted in a total loss of the large shed and vehicles that were stored inside including: two small John Deere tractors, a Forester pontoon, power tools and equipment.
Sorenson’s 2017 Jeep Cherokee, parked near the shed, was also destroyed.
The cause of the fire is unknown and remains under investigation.
Vergas, Frazee and Pelican Rapids fire departments and the sheriff’s office responded to the scene.
