Frazee High School junior Jayden Sonnenberg scored 33 points and broke Alexis Tappe’s school scoring record on Friday night. Sonnenberg eclipsed Tappe’s record of 1,693 points that was set 12 years ago as the Hornets blew past Park Rapids Area 83-59 in Heart O’ Lakes Conference action.

In addition to going an impressive 14-15 from the field and knocking down four 3-pointers, Sonnenberg finished with five rebounds, five assists and six steals in the win.
In addition to Sonnenberg’s record breaking night, Brynn Larson scored 16 points to go along with five rebounds, while Katie Courneya also reached double figures as she scored 11 points and had three rebounds.
Ellie Trieglaff scored nine points to go along with four rebounds and four assists, while Aynslee Johannsen went 4-4 from the free throw line to finish with eight points Leslie Moore, Ruby Eckert and Maggie Blaine rounded out the scoring with two points apiece.
In addition to their win against Park Rapids Area, the Hornets fell to Barnesville by a score of 67-35 on Tuesday night. Individual stats and information for the Hornets loss to the Trojans was not available at the time of press.
The Hornets are currently 10-7 overall and 4-6 in the Heart O’ Lakes Conference. The Hornets will travel to Menahga on Tuesday night, before traveling to Dilworth-Glyndon Felton on Friday night.
