0University of Minnesota and North Dakota State University Extension and the crop consultants that serve on the workshop planning committee are seeking people to attend the 33rd annual Advanced Crop Advisors Workshop, to be held on February 11 and 12 at the Holiday Inn in Fargo. Nine continuing education units (CEUs) will be available by attending the workshop on both days. While this program is geared toward crop advisors in need of CEU to maintain certification, public-sector university employees, ag retailers and crop producers alike will find that the 2025 workshop lineup has a lot to offer.
“The 2025 Advanced Crop Advisors Workshop has an exciting lineup of industry and Extension crop production specialists that will team teach interactive sessions that range from 1 hour to 1.5 hours long—it is after all the Advanced Crop Advisors Workshop,” said Angie Peltier, UMN Extension crops educator and workshop co-chair.
In addition to teaching crop consultants about the most effective ways to manage long-time pests such as grass weeds in wheat, new diseases such as tar spot in corn will also be covered. As farmers look far and wide for alternative crops to grow to improve their bottom line, their crop consultants can learn more about how best to manage canola and dry edible beans attending this workshop.
New to this year’s workshop is a self-paced pest ID quiz/contest. During mealtimes and other breaks, attendees can view living weeds and insect pests and disease samples to test their knowledge. At the end of the workshop’s second day, crop advisors can earn bragging rights (and prizes) as the correct identification of each specimen is revealed.
