In the Blasing family there is an unwritten rule that dates back generations. “My great-grandparents came from Germany and someone had to learn to play the accordion,” said Wallon “Woody” Blasing. My brother thought he was Elvis so he played guitar.” Reflecting back, the Detroit Lakes resident is glad he accepted the challenge and responsibility because it presented many opportunities to become closer to family and friends.
At Ease Dock & Lift headed its 11th year by expanding. In addition to a new warehouse, the business located along U.S. Highway 10 on the outskirts of Frazee is adding to its outdoor showroom and purchased a new service barge. At Ease Dock & Lift offers quality docks, lifts and products related to the waterfront.

Colonel Darwin “Darby” Nundahl is helping give his new profession a facelift. Nundahl will use his knowledge of computers to give his business, All Star Auctions, a solid start. In times past, it was often the aspect of a family outing which drew people to auctions. That family aspect still remains, but now Nundahl and other auctioneers are also employing technology such as the Internet to market their service-oriented business.
“It’s pretty tough to make ends meet with fuel prices the way they are.” The sentiments of all truckers and trucking firms are probably summed up by those words, from Roger Klemm, who owns a small trucking firm between Frazee and Detroit Lakes. Diesel prices have been soaring and are almost at a record high. Consequently, people in the trucking business are having a difficult time making a profit, or in some cases, making a living.
World champion sled dog musher “Fast Eddy” Streeper of Osage gave the crowd at the Last Minute Sled Dog Race a glimpse of how he got his nickname. During the mass start 10-dog race Saturday on Shell Lake near Osage, Streeper was last out of the chute of five mushers and finished first after an eye-popping pass within 50 yards of the finish line.

St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Evergreen will be hosting a “Lenten Open House” Wednesday night, March 5 at 8:15. The purpose of the open House is to invite friends, neighbors, and all others to hear once again the greatest news ever told. The news of Jesus, God’s Son, coming to take the punishment for the wrongs of all men so that they might be friends of God. The story does not end with Jesus’ death, however, He came back to life again following three days in the grave.
State Representative Frank DeGroat has established a meeting date of February 28 in Detroit Lakes at the Erie Jr. at 1 p.m. for the purpose of hearing and reviewing policies as they relate to wetlands acquisition for wildlife management. DeGroat says, “We will hear testimony from the Land Exchange Review Board and also testimony from citizens groups representatives.”
A change in the schedule for the Becker County Bookmobile for the Frazee area has been announced by Mrs. Eleanor Stonelake. Bookmobile Librarian. The changes were made to allow more time at the Wolf Lake School.
