Hornets split a pair with Trojans for third win of the season

Frazee split a doubleheader with Barnesville in their lone action of the week on Thursday night.

Barnesville was able to come away with a 16-0 win in the opening game of the night after scoring seven runs in the first inning, three in the fourth and six more in the fifth inning, before the Hornets came charging back with an 11-3 win in the nightcap.
After picking up just one hit in the first game of the night, the Hornets offense picked up in a big way in the second game of the night as they picked up 10 hits and 11 runs.
Katie Courneya put the Hornets on the scoreboard in the top of the first inning when she hit a sacrifice fly to center field to bring Ella Ullrich across the plate to score.
Frazee broke the game open in the second inning when the Hornets went on a one out rally to plate six runs. Among the highlights was a two-run single by both McKenna Wacker and Katie Courneya, while Kaija Aschnewitz plated a run on a sacrifice to the third baseman.

The Hornets added four more runs in the third inning to take an 11-2 lead and hold on for the 11-3 win.
Ellie Trieglaff picked up the win in the circle as she went 4 2/3 innings and gave up just four hits and one earned run. Ruby Eckert started the game and went 2 1/3 innings, giving up four hits and two earned runs.
Courneya led the way offensively with a pair of hits and three RBI’s, while Wacker, Trieglaff and Alydia Mitchell each finished with a pair of hits. Ullrich scored three runs in the win.
The Hornets are currently 3-6 on the season and will host Pelican Rapids in a doubleheader on Thursday, before hosting Norman County East/Ulen-Hitterdal on Friday.
