Ben Reierson, Adam Vigen, Hunter Piekarski and Cayden Wallin competed in Park Rapids last week.

The Frazee boys golfers competed in three events last week, which included a pair of varsity meets and one one JV/JH.

The first meet was in Hawley where the wind seems to always be blowing. The guys had a good showing placing third. The boys were able to have three of their four scores in the 80’s for a total of 350.

The Frazee Hornets battled the elements last week in three tough invites.

The Hornets are still trying to reach their team score goal under 330, but today was not the day. Ben Reierson shot 82. Good enough for ninth overall.

Brodie Masbauch continues to be hot and shot 86. Adam Vigen shot 89, as he continues his better play. Cayden Wallin shot a 93 and Tyler Lindell shot 97.

The second meet of the week was a JV/JH meet in Pelican Rapids. Head coach Jason Reierson said it was a crazy day. It rained all day, the boys had pictures, every other sport canceled, but the Hornets headed to the course.

Grayson Wirth led the younger Hornets with a 53. Matthew Lindell did a nice job with a 56. Right behind him was Ashton Bristlin with a 57. Ashton Gerving got a 63. Jonah Hanson, Frazee’s lefty, shot 71. Gavin Grossman rounded it out with a 68.  This was good enough for third as a team.

The last meet of the week was an HOL meet/invite at Park Rapids.

The Frazee boys golf team competed in Park Rapids last week and finished behind just one Class A team, despite having just four team members.

Reierson said it was cold and breezy in the morning but turned decent by day’s end.
There were 120 golfers there from every class. Maybe the toughest part of the day for the guys was that the greens had been aerated and didn’t roll true.

Adam Vigen carded an 85 at Park Rapids last week and continues to improve his play on the course.

Frazee only had four guys so everyone’s score in the team portion. Cayden Wallin lead the way for the Hornets. He played well all day with only one hiccup probably caused by his coach. He ended up with a 78. This was good enough for 10th in a loaded field.

Ben Reierson continued his strong play with an 80, which got him 19th place. He really had to grind on a day when he didn’t have his best stuff.

Adam Vigen was able to card a 85 and continues his improved play.  He was leading the tournament for seven holes, but had a wobbly stretch that he hopes to clean up in the future.

Freshmen Hunter Piekarski rounded out four guys. He has limited varsity experience, but has tons of potential. Nerves got the better of him and as he would say he just got in his own head.  He was able to shoot a 115.  Not bad considering he had never played there.

In the end, the Hornets finished behind just one other Class A team, who are currently ranked in the state.
