The downtown Frazee Commercial project is gaining steam as the building blueprints and visual renderings were reviewed. During the monthly Frazee Economic Development Authority meeting on Tuesday, May 26, a representative from the design firm, Goldmark, recapped the plan for the building. The building will have a corridor in the middle of it for patrons, as well as two public bathrooms. The size of the building was stated to be a little more than 8,000 square feet with four potential retail spaces.

The Frisbee disc golf course in Frazee is now open at Lions Park and ready for play. The nine-hold course is set in the picturesque setting of the park with the Otter Tail River as a backdrop.

Frazee Elementary teachers and staff hosted a parade for students and families in the high school parking lot of May 20. Staff members made signs and a few of them even got dressed up in a costume for the occasion. One staff member wore a shark costume to wish students well during their summer break. Students spent the last two months of school at home as part of the statewide distance learning program due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The former owner of 4 Corners Cafe, Lloyd and Betty Varholdt of Rochert, have resumed ownership of the business. Leslie and Sherry Erickson closed the cafe and gas station Friday, and the Varholdts took over operations. Lloyds said they planned to be selling gasoline at the beginning of this week and they have applied for the various licenses to operate the cafe and other business aspects.

“This is a training we hope we never have to use.” Those words were spoken by many of the fire and rescue people who took part in a simulated bus/car accident May 17 in Frazee. Frazee, Vergas and Wolf Lake fire and rescue personnel had a hands-on exercise on how to handle a large accident. The entire scene was real to life. Rescue crews applied wounds and blood to the students in the bus prior to the accident and rescue mission.

Duane Hanson gets no hassle from his cat “Mike” as Dr. Rose of Lakeland Veterinary Clinic, Perham, preps him for hit shots. Only 14 city dog tags were sold, compared to an all-time high of 110 a few years ago. The Frazee Police Department plans to enforce its city ordinance regarding dog tags, ticketing unlicensed dog owners $20.

Steve Tessman, 15, son of Mrs. Fred Bartel, Jr. of Frazee, proudly displays a 10 lb. northern that he caught Saturday in Town Lake at Frazee using a Bantam Tail spinner. Pictured with Steve is Jamie Trowbridge of Frazee with two nice sunfish he also caught in Town Lake. Jamie is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Trowbridge.

The Senior Class Night program was held Friday evening, May 30, at the Frazee High School. At this program the recipients of the Daggett Scholarships were announced. Receiving these $500 post high school education awards were: Cindy Etchason, Jill Kelly, Diane Lomsdal, Jack Drestch, and Bruce Engle.

The 112 members of the Frazee-Vergas high school class of 1975 will receive their diplomas at commencement exercises tonight, Thursday, at 8:00 p.m. in the high school gymnasium. There will not be a commencement speaker this year. Honors addresses will be given by Jill Kelly, Darrell Anderson and Barbara Draco. Mrs. Quentin Waseth, president of the Board of Education, will present diplomas to the graduates.
