Ben Reierson qualified for the Class A state golf meet after winning a playoff hole last week.

The Frazee boys golf team headed into the section tournament with high hopes. A bunch of personal bests had come during the regular season as well as a team best score.

The first day of the tournament was a beautiful day for the most part.  The boys did a nice job scoring in favorable conditions until the last few groups came in and a rain and wind storm rolled in.

Ben Reierson was able to score a real solid 80 on the first day. Adam Vigen also played well and scored an 80, narrowly missing a putt on the last hole for a 79. Brodie Mausbach shot a respectable 87. Cayden Wallin shot 88. The Lindell brothers, Tyler and Matthew shot 107 and 111 respectfully.

Adam Vigen finished in 11th place at the section golf meet last week.

After the first day the team was in 2nd place by one stroke. Going into day two spirits were high. Cayden Wallin showed up nicely on the second day carding a 83, which was good for 13th place on the day with his two day total.

Ben Reierson also shot an 83, which was good enough for seventh place and got him into a playoff for a state berth.
The first hole of the playoff saw him hit his drive slightly right with no real good shot to the green while his opponent hit it to the middle of the fairway and hit a nice approach shot on the green. Reierson had to scramble from there, but with a nice chip and putt secured his par.

On to the next hole, both guys bombed drives to nice spots in the fairway. His opponent hit just short of the green within 7 yards of the hole. Reierson was pin high, but off the green also. He snuggled his up to around a foot and his opponent broke under the pressure and ran his chip by.  Reierson, with a little knee knocker, was off to state.

Adam Vigen just could not get the few extra rolls he needed on some early putts to get his score going. He ended the day with an 89. His two day total was good enough for a nice 11th place finish. Brodie Mausbach didn’t fare as well on the second day as nothing went his way from the start. He worked his way around the course with a positive attitude and was able to get a 95. Tyler Lindell improved his first day score with a 99 and Matthew Lindell got a 116 on day two.

Reierson will advance to state from June 10-11.
