Emma Wiseman, Lilly Adams, Rylee Stock, Onalea Maijala and Ella Perala competed for the Frazee Hornets in their final HOL meet of the season on May 19.

The Frazee girls golf team had one meet prior to the Memorial Day holiday. It was the final Heart O’ Lakes Conference meet held at Wildflower Golf Course on Monday, May 19. It was a miserable day for golf with the real feel temperature at 25 degrees when the girls teed off at 9 a.m. Wind gusts were over 30 mph for the entirety of the tournament.

The girls stepped up in the poor weather conditions and had their best team finish of the season coming in with a sixth place finish in the 10-team field. Barnesville edged out Hawley by one shot for the team title with a score of 379. The Lady Hornets totaled a 421. Barnesville was awarded the conference championship as they finished in first place in all six conference meets this spring. Frazee finished in eighth place for the season just behind seventh place Pelican Rapids.

Senior Sophie Cook was the medalist with a score of 78 which was good enough to earn her the individual conference championship for the third straight season. Cook finished ahead of seventh grader Natalie Martin of Park Rapids who was second on the day with an 81 and she was also second for the season.

Rylee Stock and Emma Wiseman earned all-conference honors for the girls golf team this season.

For the Lady Hornets, Emma Wiseman led the way with a score of 100. She was followed by Onalea Maijala with a career low score of 106, Rylee Stock had a 107, Lilly Adams a 108 and Ella Perala had a 128.

Both Wiseman and Stock made the HOL All-Conference team which is awarded to the top 18 golfers based on scoring averages for the season. It is Wiseman’s fourth time making the all-conference team and the first time for Stock.

“I was very impressed with the performance of our girls on a terrible day for any sporting events to be played outside,” said head coach David Conzemius. “They dressed for the occasion and remained very patient on the course. We are very happy for both Emma and Rylee to make the all-conference team. It is a major accomplishment for both of them.”

Frazee will compete in the Seciton 8AA championship at Bemidji Town and Country Club from June 2-3.
