Through a series of dashes and dots Robert Eveslage speaks to people all over the world. The Ham operator shared he loves using Morse code, even though many operations around the world known English. “The new Ham radio operators consider the Morse code obsolete, and it is hard to learn,” he said. “If technology crashes though, we can’t use computers, but we would be able to use the Morse code. For me, it’s like a second language.”
Pam Anderson learned her sister needed a kidney transplant through a Christmas letter. The gentle way of breaking the news ensured family and friends wouldn’t feel pressured, but would be informed if they considered undergoing testing to see if they were a match for former Frazee resident Vonda (Burnham) Dronen. Dronen, a 1986 Frazee High School graduate and former Miss Frazee, learned her kidney had developed cysts and was later diagnosed with polycystic kidney disease caused by a genetic mutation.

Frazee will soon have (or, depending on the set-up schedule, already has) a new major attraction rivaling its turkey and moose. Commissioned by the Frazee Community Club, it’s a 12×20 multi-color mural-sign combination near the County Highway 10 exit to Frazee on State Highway 10, depicting, in a vivid way, the attractions and charm of Frazee. Its colors, pictorial content and sparsity of verbiage seem very likely to immediately catch the eyes of passing motorists.
The installation of the dock and swimming raft at Town Lake Beach will have to wait until the city hires a lifeguard for the season. That was the consensus at Monday night’s Frazee City Council meeting. A lifeguard the city planned to hire declined the offer, Clerk Teri Osterman said. The city will be searching for a swimming lesson instructor and a lifeguard to man the beach. At the very least, it hopes to hire a supervisor for the beach if a lifeguard cannot be found.
