Frazee golfer Ben Reierson wrapped up a busy week with a pair of state tournaments. On Tuesday and Wednesday he competed at the state golf meet (above) in Becker, Minn., before making the trek to St. Cloud, Minn., for the state baseball meet on Wednesday night and Thursday (below).
Head boys golf coach Jason Reierson said the initial reaction to the state tournament was, “wow.”

There were many more people than both he and golfer Ben Reierson had expected. The first day of the tournament saw hot weather. It had been cooler and rainy during the practice rounds. The greens sped up throughout the day.
Ben could just not get his chipping game going which caused a bunch of long opportunities on the greens. That wasn’t condusive to low scores. He ended up shooting 85, which he was disappointed with, but it put him in the middle of the pack at 44th.
The second day saw drenching rain. The slippery conditions made for tough play. He started to get things going at the turn, but his best club all year, his putter, just wouldn’t cooperate. He put himself in position to score, but missed putts he had made all season. He ended up shooting a two-day total of 169. That landed him in 48th place.
After his last hole, Ben rushed from the last green to the van so he could get to state baseball. He got there and went right in to pinch run. What a fantastic experience.
