Wolf Lake to repair liquor store, warming house roofs

The Wolf Lake City Council will move forward with repairs to the liquor store and warming house roofs. The council approved a bid of $4,000 from Monty Lake to look into a leaky roof at the liquor store.

The Wolf Lake City Council has taken action, during its Tuesday, June 10, regular monthly meeting, to repair the liquor store and warming house roofs.
The council passed a motion to accept a $6,500 bid from Monty Lake to repair the roof on the warming house at the bottom of the Wolf Lake sledding hill. Another motion was passed during the meeting to approve up to $4,000 for Lake to start looking into the leaky roof situation at the liquor store in order to determine how to go about repairing it.
In other news
• Passed a motion for Councilor Cody Lake to receive half of Frank Stuemke’s monthly paycheck as Lake is taking over Stuemke’s city sewer manager duties.
• Received a monthly Wolf Lake Fire Department report, which includes the department responding to three calls since the May council meeting, bringing the total service calls to 31 for the year. Two of the last three calls were mutual aid and one was an emergency call that involved securing a landing zone.
• Confirmed a fundraiser for the Wolf Lake Community Hall from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 20, which includes a meal and a silent auction.
• Reviewed community hall volunteer hours for May. A total of 284 volunteer hours were worked at the hall in May with about half of those taking place on the Saturday, May 10, work day. Officials are publicly expressing appreciation to all who have volunteered including Chad Laulainen of Alpex who spent numerous hours painting the hall.
• Acknowledged that Councilor Cody Lake has logged 29 volunteer hours at the sewer ponds trapping gophers and working on weed control, gopher mound removal and fence repairs.
• Reviewed a situation involving a stolen water tank from a house in the southeast quarter of Wolf Lake. Dimensions of the tank are three feet high, four feet long and two feet wide. Officials note that the tank has “sentimental value” and the owner would appreciate it being returned.
• Announced new city office hours from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
• Regular monthly meetings of the Wolf Lake City Council are usually held at 7 p.m. on the second Tuesday of the month at city hall.
