Wolf Lake Mayor Michelle Suhsen reports a “good” turnout for the Wolf Lake “Hustle for the Hall Fundraising Event” held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 20.
Suhsen reported, following the event, that 263 people visited the hall, formerly the Wolf Lake Lions Community Hall, Sunday in support of updating and preserving the hall possibly for generations to come. Supporters enjoyed a free will offering walking taco meal, a silent auction, door prizes, a big bounce house for the kids along with kid-friendly activities and more.
The Wolf Lake Community Hall Committee members welcomed everyone and even signed off on a tagline for the overall renovation efforts: “Honoring the past, building the future.” Most or all of the local club-related items that have been in the hall for years have been removed, making it more universally appealing for rental use by private parties for a wide variety of events.
“Our goal is to have a more neutral space that anybody can use,” said Janelle Lake, a member of the hall committee. “It (the hall) has come a long way.”
But there is still much to be done.
The universal space offers seating for over 200 guests, flexible setup options, all tables and chairs, full kitchen access, ample parking and competitive rental rates.
The following is on the Wolf Lake Community Hall Facebook page: “Our hall is looking forward to bringing your event to life. Reach out for details and availability today.”
Call for event rentals at (218) 252-6504 or email wolflakecommunityhall@gmail.com.
The following is a short list of what the hall can be rented for: Family reunions, graduation parties, wedding receptions, vendor and craft fairs, community events such as pageants and fundraisers of various kinds, homeschool meetups, adult and kid classes, yoga and pilates classes, birthday parties and baby showers, business meetings and holiday parties.
Local/area businesses are invited to be a sponsor for the annual fundraiser banner. This provides businesses with the opportunity to gain local visibility and show support for the hall and surrounding communities. Businesses that are interested or would like more information can message the Wolf Lake Community Hall Facebook page or email at wolflakecommunityhall@gmail.com.
One of the ways to support the overall hall renovation project is by volunteering with the various improvement projects at the hall. Upcoming projects include replacing exterior doors, enhancing entry/safety railing, exterior painting, landscaping, exterior signage, interior finishes throughout, finishing the flooring, re-doing/expanding the back deck area, finishing the bathroom remodel and adding outdoor play equipment.
The committee along with the Wolf Lake City Council are extending gratitude to all who have been supportive in any way from monetary donations/sponsorships, donations of time to help with renovations, communications to keep people updated on progress including on social media and any other ways people have been and are being supportive including coming to the hall fundraisers.
The following statement found on the hall Facebook page may sum it up best: “Please join us as we come together to help save our beloved Wolf Lake Community Hall! This cherished space has been the heart of our town for generations – and now it needs your help! Whether you’ve danced at a wedding here, reminisced with your family at a reunion, or simply shared a smile at a local event—this is your hall, your memories, your community.”
