The Vergas City Council was asked to consider having a berm built at the public beach to prevent sand from washing away. Vergas Utilities Superintendent Mike DuFrane explained water drains toward the front of the shelter due to the slope of the parking lot. Fixing the parking lot would be costly, but so is spending an average of $2,000 on sand annually. The solution the park committee came up with was to create berm, which was estimated to cost around $2,000, but over time, the expense may result in savings with less sand needing to be purchased.
