Cross country team competes at Brave Like Gabe meet

The Frazee Hornet cross country team wasted little time heading to the course for the opening meet of the season on Saturday morning. Less-than two weeks after starting practice, the Hornets headed down Highway 10 and participated in the Brave Like Gabe 5k in Perham.

The meet featured just over 1,000 runners in 13 different races from across Minnesota and North Dakota.
Jonah Sharp kicked off his senior season with a 25th place finish for the Hornets. Sharp finished the race with a time of 19:08, while sophomore Talon Hoverson took 63rd place with a time of 21:08.8. A total of 93 people compete in the varsity black division, while another 95 competitors competed in the varsity gold division.
On the girls side the Hornets did a good job of running in packs as senior Lola Hoehne took 29th place with a time of 22:44. Eighth grader Rilynn Ruiz took 35th place with a time of 23:27, junior Bristol Larsen took 48th place with a time of 24:17, freshman Brooklyn Riewer finished in 54th place with a time of 25:17 and sophomore Madilyn Perrine took 65th place with a time of 26:00.
There were a total of 87 girls in the black division race the Hornets competed in, while another 86 in the varsity gold division.
