Crews continued the base construction of a new paved, 10-foot, multi-use trail, expected to be nearing paving next week with optimal weather at Wannigan Regional Park in Frazee. The trail will stretch nearly two miles throughout the park. A major feature of the developed park will be the meeting of three significant trails: the Heartland Spur trail connecting just outside of the park with the Heartland State Trail, the North Country natural surface trail directly through the park, and the Otter Tail River State Water Trail. The Heart of the Lakes Trail will reach Vergas upon completion of the County Highway 35 project, making a fourth trail connection possible when Vergas and Frazee are joined.
