Frazee Family Foods shoppers will find a new produce cooler, new freezers and a more spacious section to pick out meals for the week. Owner Heath Peterson said the open produce cooler was replaced with an enclosed case, which will keep vegetables and fruits fresh for customers. He explained the previous case was open, and didn’t provide uniformed cooling.

A Perham Pioneer Days member jumped the gun when he requested the Vergas City Council consider allowing the event on city property. Vergas Community Club President Sherri Hanson took a call from a gentleman who asked if the city would be interested in the event. Hanson explained the city council would have to approve it, as the event would be on city property. She said she would bring it up at the next council meeting.

The Becker County Museum solved a problem before elementary schools identified it. The museum donated lanyards to all public schools in Becker County. The lanyards will help the younger kids keep their face coverings off of heavily touched surfaces when removing them to drink or eat.

Heavy frost—most areas were hit with a heavy, killing frost Sunday night, except some of those protected by lakes and woods. The frost shows well on these flower heads.

Monday’s special session of the Vergas City Council got a bit gravely before it was over. The issue was gravel spread on the streets of the city—what kind of gravel it should have been and what kind of gravel it was. Merel Kvam, who frequently attends council meetings, said the city should have had Class 5 crushed gravel on its streets and got screened sand instead.

After three months of construction on Frazee’s Main Street, the road is now open. To celebrate, Frazee merchants are hosting a free customer appreciation pig roast on Saturday, Sept., 30 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Little Turkey Park at the corner of Highway 87 and Main Avenue. The merchants banded together with the Frazee Community Club’s Trade Promotion Committee to celebrate its new streets with the event.

October 2, 1975

An early morning fire Tuesday destroyed a 24×45 foot barn on the Gary Wright farm located about two miles east of Frazee in Hobart Township. Frazee firemen answered the fire call at 6:10 a.m., but the blaze was out of control when they arrived and the barn was leveled. Wright was able to save four young head of cattle that were in the barn. Also lost in the fire were about 350 bales of hay and straw and some household items that were stored in the barn. Cause of the fire has not been determined.

The Frazee Community Club held a special meeting Wednesday, Sept. 24, at the V.F.W. Club to discuss several current items of business and also proposed community events. President Quentin Walseth stated he had been contacted by a representative of he Highway Beautification Program and that it would be necessary to remove the two signs that the Community Club has on Highway 10, advertising the city, since they do not qualify under the regulations of the program.

Homecoming “75” is now being planned at FHS, with the theme “Stairway to Heaven.” Many activities are planned for the week of Oct. 6-10, with highlights on Friday. Coronation will begin at 10:30 a.m. in the Senior High Auditorium, with the public invited. A Pep Fest will be held that afternoon, and in the evening the Frazee Hornets will host the Pelican Rapids Vikings. Putting the final touch on Homecoming Week will be a dance in the Lower Elementary School after the game from 9:30 to 12:30, featuring the “Willow Creek” Band.
