Ruiz posts personal best to place 14th at HOL Conference meet

Frazee eighth grader Rilynn Ruiz posted a personal best as she finished in 14th place at the Heart O’ Lakes Conference meet in Breckenridge on Tuesday night. Ruiz finished with a time of 20:18 to help the Hornets finish in eighth place as a team.
Senior Lola Hoehne finished in 40th place with a time of 22:13, while Bristol Larsen finished in 43rd place with a time of 22:40. Freshman Brooklynn Riewer was right on her heels as the freshman finished in 52nd place with a time of 24:05, while fellow freshman Zoey St. Germain posted a personal best time of 25:20 to finish in 59th place. Madi Perrine finished in 61st place with a season best time of 25:35 and Caleigh Pausch finished in 63rd place with a time of 28:21.
The Hornets took eighth place in the meet with a score of 208. They finished in front of Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton with 233 points and 10th place Pelican Rapids with 291 points. Perham won the meet with 24 points, while Barnesville was second with 85 points, Breckenridge was third with 91 points, Hawley was fourth with 107 points, Staples-Motley was fifth with 134 points, Park Rapids Area was sixth with 135 points and Lake Park-Audubon was seventh with 201 points.
On the boys side, Jonah Sharp continued his solid senior season as he led the way with a 25th place finish with a time of 18:37. Eighth grader Coltyn Pender finished in 33rd place with a time of 18:59, Talon Hoverson finished in 41st place with a time of 19:24, Paul Sharp finished in 42nd place with a time of 19:27, Eli Heston finished in 54th place with a time of 20:47 and Hunter Piekarski finished in 58th place with a time of 21:15.
The Frazee boys team captured seventh place overall with a team score of 195. They finished in front of Pelican Rapids, Lake Park-Audubon and Barnesville who finished with 207, 215 and 225 points respectively. Perham won the meet with 19 points, while Hawley was in second place with 69, Park Rapids Area was third with 80 points, Breckenridge and Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton tied for fourth place with 155 points and Staples-Motley finished in sixth place with 180 points.
The Hornets will now gear up for the section cross country meet on Friday night in Bagley. The meet will get underway at 4 p.m. with the girls meet, while the boys will start at 4:30 p.m. The meet will be held at the Bagley Golf Course.
