A Frazee man has been charged with felony fourth-degree assault of hospital emergency personnel and misdemeanor underage drinking in Becker County District Court.
According to court records, a Detroit Lakes police officer was dispatched to the AmericInn after a report of an intoxicated man passed out in the motel’s lobby at 1:38 a.m., on Sunday, March 16.
The man was later identified as Bryson Andrew May, 19, of Frazee.
Medical attention was performed and May was transported to Essentia St. Mary’s by ambulance.
After arrival at the hospital, May became more coherent. Allegedly, May began punching himself in the face.
May eventually calmed down and the officer left the hospital only to return at 3:19 a.m., to deal with May who allegedly bit a nurse on the left forearm. The incident was witnessed by a hospital security officer.
Photographs of the bite were taken by police and a search warrant for a sample of May’s blood was obtained.
A March 28 report from the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) indicated May’s blood alcohol level tested at .34 Blood Alcohol Content (BAC).
May’s first court appearance is set for Thursday, Nov. 20.
