The Frazee Economic Development Authority (EDA) has received applications from applicants interested in the open Community Development Coordinator position.
“We have a huge variety of experience,” City Administrator Stephanie Poegel said.
The opening was created after the EDA decided if there is a service level agreement with Creating Community Consulting (CCC) that would maintain development activities while being able to cut more than half of the contracted time provided by CCC over the past year.
The EDA and Frazee Community Development Corporation (FCDC) have since discussed a 32-hour Community Development Coordinator position. The opening is for a shared position between the two entities that would replace the CCC contract and provide both consulting services for the EDA and Wannigan Regional Park through FCDC.
Ending the contract with CCC was prompted by co-owner Karen Pifher as the focus of their business was moving away from civic economic development. CCC employee and Becker County EDA District 3 Director Rachael Johnson has been on board as the city’s EDA Consultant.
The interview panel of Poegel, one EDA member and one FCDC member, will cut the current applicant pool in half and complete the interview process.
According to Poegel, the goal is to have a candidate selected before the next city council meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 12 with an approved start date of December 1.
CCC has created a 30-day onboarding and training plan for the month of December to help train in the new hire.
An option for the position to go full-time in the future or that the position splits into two has also been discussed. A Wannigan Park full-time position is expected to happen faster than Frazee EDA.
The EDA consultant change is the third since 2024 in Frazee when Community and Economic Development Associates (CEDA) was replaced by Karen Pifher and CCC.
East Main Retail
The EDA board approved changes to the request for proposal (RFP) for companies willing to bid on the seasonal snow removal of the East Main Retail Center.
