In advance of the upcoming Veterans Day holiday, Otter Tail County announced plans to illuminate county buildings green from November 4–11 as part of Operation Green Light for Veterans, a nationwide initiative to honor and support military veterans.

The campaign raises awareness about the unique challenges faced by veterans and highlights the resources available at the county, state, and federal levels to assist them and their families.

“Operation Green Light is one small but meaningful way for Otter Tail County to express our gratitude to those who have served,” said County Commissioner Kurt Mortenson. “By shining a green light, we are reminding veterans that their service and sacrifices are valued not just on Veterans Day, but every day of the year.”

Otter Tail County encourages residents, businesses, and community organizations to join the effort by replacing one light bulb with a green bulb during the week of Veterans Day. This simple gesture sends a message of appreciation and support to the veterans living in our communities.

Robb Emerson, Otter Tail County Veterans Service Officer, shared, “Operation Green Light is a powerful reminder that support for our veterans doesn’t end when their service does. Lighting our buildings green shows our gratitude, but it also reminds veterans of the resources and help available to those right here in Otter Tail County. Our goal is to make sure every veteran knows they are valued, supported, and never alone.”

Otter Tail County remains dedicated to serving veterans and their families through the Otter Tail County Veterans Service Office, which helps with benefits, claims, healthcare access, and local programs.
