Grace Hamm secured a pin during last week’s triangular in Frazee. She went on to win the Paul Bunyan tournament in Brainerd over the weekend.

The Frazee girls wrestling team made the trek up north over the weekend for the annual Paul Bunyan wrestling tournament and came home with a number of top six finishes.

Grace Hamm continued her solid season in Brainerd as the freshman secured a pair of pins and a major decision on her way to a first place finished at 136 lbs. Hamm opened the tournament with a pin over Maggie Bernu of Brainerd at the 3:20 mark, before defeating Kalee Winter of Staples-Motley by a pin in just 47 seconds in the semi-finals.
In the championship match, Hamm secured an 8-0 major decision over previously unbeaten Jadyn Eichberg of Bemidji to capture first place.
Rachael Courneya placed second at 106 lbs. as the seventh grader picked up a pair of first period pins, before falling by a pin in her third match to take second place.
Also placing for the Hornets was Kienna Ard in sixth place at 142 lbs., Kourtnie Earp in seventh place at 190 lbs., Lola Hoehne in sixth place at 130 lbs. and Avory Ramiriz in fourth place at 118 lbs.
As a team the Frazee girls tied Foley for sixth place with 58 points, while Bemidji won the tournament with 157.5 points.
