Frazee falls to state-ranked Pelican Rapids 73-41

The Frazee Hornets ended the 2025 portion of their schedule against one of the top teams in both the Heart O’ Lakes Conference and Class A as the Pelican Rapids Vikings handed the Hornets a tough 73-41 loss on Tuesday night.
The Hornets fell behind early in the first half, but were able to match the fifth ranked Pelican Rapids offensive output from the end of the first half through the opening part of the second half, before the Vikings pulled away late in the game once again.
The Vikings shot over 49 percent from the floor and knocked down seven 3-pointers in the win. They also held a 26-9 advantage in points off of turnovers and forced 22 Frazee turnovers in the win. Frazee trailed 42-21 at halftime, but were only outscored 31-20 in the final 18 minutes of action.
The Hornets were led offensively by Adam Vigen who scored 14 points and chipped in with five assists and five steals, as well as Noah Mekalson who scored 10 points. Ayden Grossman scored five points, Conner Erickson and Ben Reierson each scored four, while Paul Sharp and Dawson Lyman rounded out the scoring with two points apiece.
The Hornets are currently 0-6 on the season and will return to action on Friday afternoon with a conference game in Barnesville, before returning home on Saturday to take on Battle Lake in a non-conference game. Friday’s game against the Trojans is scheduled to begin at 3 pm., while Saturday’s game against the Battlers is expected to tip off at 2:30 p.m.
