The Frazee Hornets will look to wrap up a successful 2025 portion of their schedule on a high note this week when they travel to Pelican Rapids to participate in the annual Pelican Rapids holiday tournament. The tournament features teams from throughout west central and northern Minnesota with the Hornets scheduled to take on the Underwood Rockets in the opening round of the tournament on Monday.

The winner of Monday’s game will take on either Northern Freeze or West Central Area on Tuesday, while the two losing teams will take on one another as well.

The tournament comes on the heels of a nice 77-56 win over Pelican Rapids on Tuesday, Dec. 23 as the Hornets improved to 6-2 in both the Heart O’ Lakes Conference and overall.

In addition to Monday and Tuesday’s tournament in Pelican Rapids, the Hornets will host Battle Lake on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. for a non-conference match up against the Battlers.

Frazee will then take an extended break from action until Friday, Jan. 9 when they will hit the road and travel to Ada-Borup West.

Jayden Sonnenberg continued her stellar senior season as the Hornet went 6-9 from behind the 3-point line and scored 31 points to go along with seven rebounds as Frazee traveled just down the road to Perham in a match up between two of the top teams in the Heart O’ Lakes Conference so far this season.

Unfortunately, the Hornets came up just short of picking up their sixth straight win to start the season as they fell to the Yellowjackets by a score of 83-75 on Tuesday, Dec. 16.

In addition to Sonnenberg, Ruby Eckert had a solid night from the post position as she finished with 18 points and six rebounds, while Brynn Larson scored 16 points to go along with eight rebounds. Katie Courneya scored six points, while Ellie Trieglaff and Aynslee Johannsen rounded out the scoring with two points apiece.
