The CornerStone youth community center hired Tracy Neuffer as its executive director. The Detroit Lakes resident was raised in Mahnomen and is excited to be part of the community-driven project. “The people I have met in Frazee so far have been unbelievably kind and friendly,” she said.
Vergas resident Joy (Pausch) Summers recently earned the high accolade of Rookie of the Year by the Lakes Country Association of Realtors. Summers was in her car when she was informed she would be the recipient of the coveted award. Normally, the Vergas resident would receive the accolade at a banquet with her peers present. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was sent to her.
On Saturday, Jan. 2, Tammy and Ronald “Arnie” Krejce lost everything in a fire. While their belongings were gone, within hours they had a community rallying around them. The day everything changed came about with household chores. An hour or so earlier, Krejci had put a load of laundry in the washer and moved a load to the dryer. “I went back there and saw flames,” she said.

Final contract negotiations are being worked out with Mr. Joe Merseth, who is Superintendent at Rothsay School, to replace Supt. Jim Lamont, who will be retiring effective June 30th. When final agreement has been reached, additional information will follow.
The Don Quittschreiber home in the Toad Lake are was destroyed by fire on Sunday, Dec. 30. Firement from Wolf Lake, Frazee and Carsonville battled the blaze for about seven hours. Firemen managed to save some furniture, but the two-story house was destroyed. Below zero temperatures hampered the fire crews efforts. Temperatures were more than 20 below that Sunday morning.
Clarence Ward of Frazee has retired as Becker County’s Assessor after 17 years in the public service field on a full time basis. Ward was first hired as Becker County’s deputy assessor and five years later he was appointed as assessor. Monday, December 31, was his last day in the office.

The Frazee Fire Department held its annual meeting on January 8, 1976 for the purpose of electing officers for the coming year. The results of the election are as follows: Chief-Russ Vikesland, Assistant Chief-Leonard Schrandt, Secretary-Paul Jacobs, Treasurer-Jerry Mitchell, Captains-Jarrod Christen, Ed Graham, Cloyd Jacobs, Ron Niemann, and Lyle Cole. Training officer-Jarrod Christen.
Frazee’s Hornets won the Heart O’Lakes Conference wrestling tournament held Saturday at the Frazee gym, with all 12 Hornets placing in the event. Frazee’s tournament squad pictured includes Willie Tappe, Scott Osterman, Lary Feldt, Bob Kertscher, Brain Sandberg, Dwight Drewes, Dale Tappe, Bill Buhr, Craig Fairbanks, Mark Aho, Marty Sullinger, Assistant Coach Parker Williams and Head Coach Jeff Lamphere.
