The Frazee Ski Trails are now part of the DL Nordic Ski Club, and the trail map has been updated and kiosks installed at two trail heads. Frazee resident, Mary Seiler, who is a member of the family that allows the trails to cross much of their land, said the goal is to have signs installed along the trail so those cross country skiing have a clear understanding of where they are on the map while enjoying the winter activity.

The crew at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Frazee is cooking up another delicious drive by. On Saturday, Jan. 23 starting at 4 p.m., 200 meals will be served in a drive-thru service at the church. The homemade dinner includes spaghetti with meatballs, coleslaw, garlic bread and a bar will be served for a free-will donation. Pastor Ed Borchardt said the meatball recipe is a guarded secret, but he said those eating the meal can count on it being excellent.

Frazee High School has a new club that focuses on getting outdoors in the winter to go snowshoeing and enjoy the company of. friends. There are some snowshoes available for people to use to try the activity before decided if they want to purchase their own set. The idea came to Jennifer Johnson while chatting with her husband Greg about disruptions in athletics due to the COVID-19 pandemic safety protocols.

A group has organized to collect names of people who would like to have cable television service along Highway #87 east of Frazee. A petition for this purpose has been drawn up and those interested may sign at Kay’s Kountry Kuts, located five miles east of Frazee on Highway 87.

Edna (Enslin) Mortenson has made a high mark for herself and her profession after living at Luce (midway between Frazee and Perham) and attending school in Frazee. Edna, a physical education and health teacher at the Ben Franklin Junior High School in Fargo recently received her highest recognition as National Health Educator of the Year 1990. And this even tops her previous top honors received as Fargo Teacher of the Year and U.S. West Teacher of the Year.

January 22, 1976

Frazee Boy Scouts attended the Wolf Lake VFW fishing derby held. Sunday at Big Toad Lake. Boys who enjoyed the fun were Larry Sprouls, Rob Arnold, Dave Brenk, Fred Daggett, Mike Christen, Joe Anderson, Clyde Brumwell and Les Brumwell. Mr. and Mrs. Jarrod Christen furnished transportation and chaperoned the group. Christen said the boys “had lots of fun” on their outing.

Becker County recorded 12 traffic deaths in 1975, one less than the 13 in 1974. Otter Tail County had 13 deaths in 1975 compared to 15 in 1974. Since 1960, Becker County’s highest number of traffic fatalities came in 1972 and 1966 when 20 deaths were recorded. The lowest total was four deaths in 1962.

The annual 4-H Radio Speaking contest will be held on Saturday, Jan. 31, at 1 p.m. in the Courthouse meeting room. 4-H’ers can compete in the junior division, ages 9-13 years or in the senior division, 14 years and over.
