Frazee to travel to DGF on Friday

The Frazee Hornets pushed their winning streak to seven games and improved to 12-2 overall and 8-2 in the Heart O’ Lakes Conference with a pair of big wins in conference action last week. After defeating the Barnesville Trojans on Tuesday night by a score of 57-34, the Hornets picked up their eighth conference win of the season on Friday night over Park Rapids by a score of 76-35.

The Hornets are currently leading the HOL Conference with an 8-2 record, while Perham is 7-2, Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton is 7-3 and Hawley is in fourth place with a record of 6-3. Frazee is averaging a conference best 74.6 points per game on offense, while giving up just 55.1 points per game on the defensive end of the court.

This week the Hornets will travel to DGF on Friday night in their lone action of the week. The game is the second as part of an extended road stretch that includes seven road games in their next eight contests. 

Tuesday

In a rematch of their regular season opener on Friday, Nov. 21, the Frazee Hornets once again overpowered the Barnesville Trojans as they came away with a 57-34 win on Tuesday night. The game was a bit lower scoring than the first time around when the Hornets defeated the Trojans by a score of 66-42.

Jayden Sonnenberg finished the night with a double-double as the senior scored 20 points to go along with 12 rebounds. She hit 4-7 shots from behind the 3-point line.

Katie Courneya also had a big night from the floor as she finished with three 3-pointers on her way to 17 points  and six rebounds. She also finished with four steals in the win. 

Brynn Larson filled the stat column as the senior finished with 13 points, seven rebounds and five assists, while Leslie Moore scored four points and Harlee Stock finished with two to round out the scoring.

Seniors Jayden Sonnenberg and Brynn Larson combined to outscore the entire Park Rapids team on Friday night by a 50-35 margin as the Frazee Hornets picked up their seventh straight win with a commanding 76-35 win over the Panthers. 

Sonnenberg continued her stellar senior season by scoring 30 points to go along with six rebounds and four steals, while Larson scored 20 points and pulled down a team-high nine rebounds. 

Katie Courneya also reached double figures as she scored 10 points on just 4-5 shooting, while also chipping in with eight assists. Caleigh Pausch, Ruby Eckert, Aynslee Johannsen and Leslie Moore rounded out the scoring with two points apiece.
