The Sacred Heart Council #12581 of the Knights of Columbus held their 2026 Free Throw Championship on Sunday, Jan. 18 at the Frazee High School. The event drew area kids between the ages of 9-14 to showcase their basketball shooting skills.
Champions in the girls’ division were Kenzie King, Marie Sharp, Bella Davidson, and Nora Anderson. Boys’ division champions were Huck Hanson, Carson Courneya, and Matthew Sharp. Top shooter Carson Courneya, who proudly wore his wrestling attire to the basketball contest, dominated the competition, making 13 out of 15 free throw attempts!
Each of these winners is now eligible to compete in the district competition to be held on February 15 at Holy Rosary School in Detroit Lakes, with an eye toward moving on to the regional and state levels.
The Knights of Columbus is the world’s largest Catholic fraternal service organization. Founded in 1882 to assist working-class and immigrant Catholics in the United States, today the approximately two million members of the Knights put their faith into action through a broad range of charitable causes locally, nationally, and internationally with financial contributions and hands-on service.
