The Frazee Fly Girls competed in the Heart of the Lakes Conference Championships on Tuesday, Jan. 27 after two rescheduling attempts due to weather. 

The Varsity Jazz team finished third with a new season high score of 288 points. Highest scoring categories were difficulty in choreography, difficulty in skills, and overall routine effectiveness. Finishing in first place was Crosby-Ironton followed by Hawley in second place. 

The Varsity Kick team finished in fifth place with their season high score of 279 points with their highest scores in kick height, creativity and difficulty of choreography. Finishing in first place was Crosby-Ironton, followed by Bagley in second place and Hawley in third place. 

Overall, Frazee finished in fifth place in the Heart of the Lakes Conference. Frazee’s All-Conference Dancer was Alydia Mitchell and Honorable Mention was McKenzie Blauert. Both dancers are juniors and compete in both varsity jazz and kick teams. 

On Saturday, the Fly Girls returned to Hawley High School to compete in the Section 4A meet.

The Varsity Jazz team finished in fifth place, just shy of setting another season high score. Earning a trip to state in jazz was Crosby-Ironton in first place, Hawley in second place and DGF in third place. 

The Varsity Kick team finished in seventh place also just shy of another season high score. Earning a trip to state for kick was Crosby-Ironton in first place, Hawley in second place and Bagley in third place. 

The Frazee Fly Girls will finish their season hosting the Frazee Dance Show on Monday, Feb. 16 at 7 p.m. in the Main Gym. The dance show will include area studios and a silent auction. Admission is free-will offering.
