Lieutenant Luke Sweere

Luke Sweere, a former Frazee Police Officer and Chief announced his candidacy for Becker County Sheriff last week.

Sweere worked in Frazee as a police officer from 2000-03 and was the police chief from 2003-06. Since then, he has worked for Becker County as a deputy 2006-13 and as an investigator 2013-24. He was promoted to Lieutenant in the Sheriff’s Office in 2024 and the County’s Emergency Management Deputy Director in 2024.

Our Deputies, Corrections Officers, Dispatchers, and Support Staff work tirelessly to protect our neighborhoods, support victims, and build trust with the citizens we serve. 

“I am committed to ensuring that all Sheriff’s Office staff continue to receive the advanced training, modern equipment, and leadership support they need to succeed.

“As your Sheriff, I will focus on strengthening what we already do well, while continuing to grow and improve the Sheriff’s Office. Growth means investing in ongoing training, expanding community partnerships, and ensuring we are prepared for evolving challenges facing law enforcement today.

“I want to continue building strong connections between the Sheriff’s Office and our schools, businesses, and community. Transparency, accountability, and open communication will remain top priorities.
