The Frazee girls placed first and the boys team took ninth place at the Craig Hougen Relays at Bemidji State University last week. The Hornet girls team picked up 115 points to finish in the top spot out of 17 teams with Pillager coming in second place with a total of 98.5 points. 

On the boys side the Hornets finished with 22.5 points, while Bemidji captured first place with 132 points. 

Rachael Courneya captured second place with a time of 27.96 and Brynn Larson took fifth place with a time of 29.03 in the 200-meter dash, while Rilynn Ruiz took fourth place in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:05.95. 

In the hurdles, Aynslee Johannsen took second place in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.97, as well as first place in the long jump with a jump of 16’ 5 3/4” to edge teammate Jayden Sonnenberg who took third place in the event with a jump of 15’ 6 3/4”. 

The Hornets dominated the relay events with the 4×400-meter relay team of Katie Courneya, Rachael Courneya, Madilyn Perrine and Ruiz finishing in first place with a time of 4:33.42. 

The 4×200-meter relay team of Johannsen, Larson, Aubree Bristlin and Sonnenberg took second place with a time of 1:54.51, while the SMR 1600-meter relay team took fourth and the 4×800-meter relay team took fifth place.

In the field events, Leslie Moore took first place in the shot put with a throw of 34’ 2 3/4”, while Larson captured first place in the high jump with a jump of 5’0”. 

In the triple jump, Ava Leishman took second place in the triple jump with a jump of 31’ 6 3/4”, while Jordan Nelson took sixth place with a jump of 29’2”.

On the boys side, Ayden Grossman took first place in the 400-meter dash with a time of 53.97 and took fifth place in the long jump with a jump of 19’ 2 1/2”. 

Micheal Chisholm took sixth place in the shot put with a throw of 37’11” and Hunter Malone took eighth place in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 11.42.
