While the weather is keeping most of the Frazee Hornet spring sports teams indoors, the track and field team has found a new home at Bemidji State University where the team competed at the Beaver Relays indoor track meet on Tuesday. 

As part of the 17-team meet, the Hornets put on a strong showing and finished near the top of the standings in a number of the events, including several of the field events. 

Tyden Schaefer tied his school record in the pole vault with a vault of 14’6” to take first place in the event. He also finished in first place in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.74 and Ayden Grossman took fourth place in the long jump with a jump of 19’9 1/2”

Schaefer and Grossman also fared well in the 200-meter dash as the pair took third and fourth place with a time of 23.26 and 23.84 respectively. 

On the girls side, the Hornets picked up six first place finishes including a top finish by Leslie Moore in the shot put with a throw of 35’1 1/4” and Ava Leishman in the triple jump with a jump of 32’6 3/4”. 

Brynn Larson and Neveah Wirth swept the high jump by capturing first and second place with jumps of 4’10” and 4’8”. Aynslee Johannsen finished in fourth place with a jump of 4’8”. Johannsen also took first place in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.88 in the finals. 

In the long jump, Jayden Sonnenberg finished in second place with a jump of 15’11”, Johannsen took fourth with a jump of 15’ 1/2” and Rilynn Ruiz took sixth place with a jump of 14’10 1/2”. 

The 4×200-meter relay took first place with a time of 1:53.02 and the 4×800-meter relay team also captured the top spot with a time of 4:21.94. 

The Hornets currently have just one meet on their schedule this week as they will travel to Hawley for an invite.
