Cayden Wallin (above) and Ben Reierson (below) hit the road for a pair of golf meets last week.
The Frazee boys golf team traveled to Hawley last week and played in some crazy windy conditions. The team battled to a third place finish with some solid scores while continuing to grow.
Sophomore Hunter Piekarski had his best day so far this season shooting 90. This was good enough for 25th place. His strategy is to get a five on every hole and get a score of 90. He was able to get nine fives on the day along with two pars.
Senior Tyler Lindell shot 100 with a couple of pars and a nice birdie for the conditions.
Brodie Mausbach shot 93. He is struggling so far this season getting the game going that head coach Jason Reierson knows he has. He has flashes of really good golf but his consistency is just not there yet. Reierson said he is working so hard and just needs to get rid of a few of those big numbers.

Adam Vigen was able to shoot 92. He had a shaky start with two double bogeys. He then settled in and had a decent front nine shooting 44. He was tripped up late with a triple and another double. He wants to produce so bad for the team and is still trying to get in a groove for this season.
Cayden Wallin, another senior, shot 86, which was good enough for 12th place. He had some good and bad stretches. He took a nine on a hole but continued to battle. Wallin was in for a strong finish getting two birdies in a row and a par. He slipped up on the last hole with a double. Reierson said Walling is starting to play better.
Ben Reierson started out tight in the cold and windy weather. He went five over in the first six holes, but then settled in and was able to string together some pars along with a couple birdies. He just was very consistent and held at 5 over. He ended the day shooting 76, placing second in the tournament.
The second meet of the week was in Staples at the Vintage golf course. The boys really started the day out well leading the tournament for the first seven holes. The boys couldn’t keep it together, slipping to third place on the day. Everyone was able to stay under 100 for the day.
Piekarski and Lindell shot 99 and 98. Piekarski started the day in a funk with a very unlucky 13 on his first hole. He really hit some nice shots but not enough consistency led to the 99. Lindell had some good holes but the bad ones outweighed the good.
Brodie Mausbach had a rough first nine but got it together on the back and played much better. He still isn’t up to where he would like to be, but things are going to come together.
Vigen was able to shoot a 92. He was going along so smoothly and then he hit a tough stretch and didn’t right the ship until the last hole. The guys are working so hard to get under the 330 mark and we will get there but not yet.
Cayden Wallin took his game to the place he had been hoping for all season. He really had his game come together. He shot a 76 good enough for second place. He had a stretch of four birdies. The ball was just going where he wanted it too. He was only bested by Ben Reierson who shot 75. Reierson was so steady with a bunch of pars. He did throw in a nice eagle and a birdie to go along with the pars.
Head coach Jason Reierson said it was so fun for the Hornets to take first and second on the day.
