Cayden Wallin eyes up a putt at the green last week.

Another rotten weather day and another Heart O’ Lakes golf meet.

The boys traveled to The Meadows in Moorhead last week. With rain standing in the fairways and the temperatures hovering around 40 degrees the Hornets ventured out. The team was able to secure fifth place for the day, but really did not play as well as we would like.

Hunter Piekarski lets his tee shot fly.

Ben Reierson led the way with an 80, good for seventh place. Cayden Wallin battled the wind to shoot 87. Adam Vigen couldn’t quite stay in the 80’s and shot 92. Brodie Mausbach had his best round of the season, shooting 89. His game is starting to come around. Hunter Piekarski shot 106 but was able to keep a positive attitude. Freshman Matthew Lindell came along for the first time this season playing varsity. He did alright considering the weather shooting 108.

The second meet of the week had the Hornets going to Park Rapids Headwaters golf course. The weather was crisp, but the sun came out and the wind stayed down for the best weather of the season. Frazee was able to earn seventh place out of 21 teams. It was one of their better overall team efforts on the season. The weather surely helped.

The Hornets had four guys in the 80’s for the first time this season. This is a good sign for the rest of the season.

Brodie Mausbach tees off a shot during a golf meet last week.

Ben Reierson shot 81. He started a strong paring six of the first seven holes. He just couldn’t keep it going on the middle stretch with a rough patch. He finished strong playing the last four even.

Cayden Wallin shot 82. He carded seven pars and a birdie. A couple of doubles made his score go higher than he was hoping.

Adam Vigen shot 84. He was able to put together eight pars and a birdie. It was the best round of the season for Vigen. If he can get rid of the doubles things are going to be even better.

Brodie Mausbach put up another 89. He really thought he was going to be able to score, but he was just a bit inconsistent.

Hunter Piekarski is starting to figure out his strengths and weaknesses and is working hard to correct the things that need correcting. He shot a 94. The three triples made his score balloon a bit.

The Hornets are getting closer to their scoring goals for the season, which is encouraging.
