Gabe Leff had never penned a poem before, but that wasn’t going to prevent him from trying. And much like his favorite Minnesota Vikings player Adam Thielen, he overcame the odds and took second place in a statewide poetry contest. The nephew of Marnie and Justin Larsen of Frazee entered the contest hosted by the Lake Agassiz Regional Library for students in grades 4-12. The top prizes are an autographed football from Thielen and a jersey.
The Frazee Sportsman’s Club added a delicious dish to its annual raffle drawing. On Saturday, May 15 don’t bother cooking dinner. Instead, head to the Frazee Event Center for a drive-thru pulled pork sandwich with baked beans, potato salad and a dessert. The free-will offering collected with each meal served will go into the Frazee Sportsman’s Club funds for future projects in the community.
Vergas is set to have a new business building built downtown. Summers Construction recently purchased a lot from Rich McCrady, and applied for a permit to construct a dual office building.

Beards are a big part of advertising Frazee’s Centennial events. If you are not already participating in the beard growing contest, get those beards and mustaches growing for this Centennial event. The beards and mustaches will be judged following the log rolling/lumberjack show July 27, 1991.
Planners of Saturday night’s Frazee Centennial Barn Dance needn’t be fretted about whether folks would come to a dance that started at 6 p.m. and ended before midnight. The enormous building at Daggett Truck Line was almost filled by 6 p.m. and additional seating was quickly arranged to accommodate the record crowd of 600+ who danced, visited, and enjoyed food and refreshments provided by the Frazee Retirement Center Staff Council and the Frazee Lions Club.

The Frazee Bicentennial committee has been busy making plans for a Good Old-Fashioned July 4th Holiday, and you are invited to participate and enjoy the fun. This will be a time for everyone to dress up in old fashioned clothes to celebrate our nation’s 200th birthday…long dresses, parasols, vests, stovepipe hats, or what have you. (A special note to you men—this is the excuse that you’e been waiting for to grow a beard). It’s going to be a fun-filled day July 4th like the old days! There won’t be a dull moment on Frazee’s Main Street all day – there’ll be something going on all day long. You won’t want to miss it!
