Hornets qualify for sections in 28 different events

Most teams take a van or short bus to the section track meet, Frazee may need to contact Anderson Bus to charter a small fleet of vehicles as the Hornets qualified for the section track meet in 28 events. Since there are only 36 total events between the boys and girls, and a number of the events feature multiple Frazee track participants, it will be a busy Thursday at Concordia College in Moorhead. 

At the sub section meet, Ayden Grossman captured first place in the 400-meter dash, and in the process, broke the Frazee school record with a time of 50.89. He broke Evan Laine’s record of 50.9 that was set in 2006. 

Grossman also took first place in the 100-meter dash with a season best time of 11.74, while Tyden Schaefer took second place with a time of 11.79. Not to be outdone, Shaefer took first place in the 200-meter dash with at time of 23.31 and first place in both the pole vault with a vault of 14’7” and the long jump with a personal best of 21’ 2 3/4”. 

Hunter Malone took second place with a season best time in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 18.08 and William Stroburg took second place in the triple jump with a jump of 40’2 3/4”. 

In the relays, the 4×400-meter relay team of Grossman, William Stroburg, Jonah Sharp and Talon Hoverson took second place with a time of 3:38.24. 

On the girls side, Aynslee Johannsen took the top spot in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.84. 

Jayden Sonnenberg posted a personal best in the 800-meter run to finish in second place with a time of 2:24.06, while Brynn Larson took second place in the high jump with a jump of 4’10” and Leslie Moore captured second place in the shot put with a throw of 33’3 1/2”. 

The 4×200-meter relay and 4×400-meter relay teams both captured second place with times of 1:47.59 and 4:12.06, while seventh grader Rachael Courneya took third place in the 100-meter dash,
Larson took third place in the 200-meter dash with a time of 27.54, Ruby Eckert posted a personal best time of 1:03.11 in the 400-meter dash to finish in third place and Katie Courneya took third place in the 1600-meter run with a time of 5:49.52.  

The boys team captured the sub section title on their home track with 113 points, while Minnewaska Area was in second place with 104.5 points. 

As a team the Frazee girls took second place with 121.33 points, behind just Minnewaska Area with 158.33 points.
