Arthur Deshun Campbell

Arthur Deshun Campbell, 21, of Frazee, and co-defendant Kayne Noble Mackner, 16, of Detroit Lakes were sentenced to four and three decades in prison, respectively, Tuesday, May 19, in Becker County District Court, for the killing of 19-year-old Bryson Andrew May.

Campbell was sentenced to 40 years in prison after being convicted of three felonies: second-degree murder, second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon and soliciting juveniles to commit a felony. 

Mackner, stood trial as an adult and accepted a plea agreement in the case. He was charged as an adult and was sentenced to 31.5 years in prison.

Campbell’s sentences will run concurrently. He received credit for 151 days served and ordered to pay $6,567 in restitution. Campbell will serve his time at the Minnesota Correctional Facility in St. Cloud.

Cash Christofer Mathieu, 17, of rural Perham, will also be tried as an adult in this case. Mathieu is accused of being the driver who stayed in the car during the robbery and murder.
