Miss Frazee Teen Cassie Puttbrese is promoting her platform of mental health and the community with a PAWSitivity walk at Wannagin Park on Sunday, July 12 at 7 p.m.

Puttbrese wants to bring people together to celebrate community as well as emphasizing the positive effect that animals can have on mental health.

“My whole purpose is for people to be out in the community, especially with Wannigan Park being a new expansion into our small town of Frazee. I just really want people to get out there and, like, see the community while my platform is the pawsitivity project, about how animals help the mental health and well-being of people, no matter their age,” she said.

Puttbrese is hoping to collect donations for the Humane Society of Detroit Lakes as a part of the event. She has volunteered there in the past, and in seeing how much good they do for the community, she decided she wants to help contribute.

Puttbrese is going into her junior year of high school and is currently working towards getting her Associate of Arts degree in psychology. She is hoping to attend the University of Minnesota to eventually work towards her Masters degree. She enjoys volunteering in her community and spreading joy to others.

“I’m just excited to see all the faces in our community and everyone who comes out. I cannot thank them enough for what they’re doing. They’re helping me with everything. And I’m just excited to see what I can give back to the community after this event,” Puttbrese said.

The event is open to anyone in the community, especially pet lovers. All participating animals must wear a leash.
