All in All ceased operations and became one of two new stores in a chain of 18 under the umbrella of Orton Oil Company.
A new store is also opening in Pelican Rapids shortly. The Frazee location will be operated as Orton’s Fresh Market and the store will be branded Cenex similar to many of the existing Orton’s locations.
The Frazee location marks the company’s 18th store and 10th car wash location.
New management paid homage to previous owners’ efforts of All in All, in a press release announcing the sale.
“All in All has been a very important part of the Frazee community and has provided many important products and services to its customers. We plan on maintaining and building on that legacy. The same friendly faces will continue to serve up customer favorites such as Hot Stuff Pizza, burritos and sandwiches. We’ll be brewing up some premium coffee options for those needing a little extra pep for the road. Every new location is a reminder of why we love doing this: bringing friendly service, great food, and fair fuel prices to communities across northern Minnesota and North Dakota.”
Frank Orton, a fourth-generation leader of Orton Oil Company, addressed All in All owners Dave and Katherine Carter, specifically.
“The previous owners did a wonderful job building this store into something the community could rely on, and we’re grateful to be following in their footsteps,” said Orton, “We’re excited to get to know the Frazee community. The current staff has been great to work with during this transition. We can’t wait to grow together and keep bringing the same friendly, hometown service people expect from All In All under the Orton’s brand.”
Orton Oil Company got its start back in 1950, and four generations later is still a family-owned business at heart, built on fast, clean, and friendly service. The company’s roots are in small communities similar to Frazee as Orton’s is headquartered in Walker Minn. Many of the other Orton’s locations are in very similar-sized communities, like in nearby Audubon and Menahga.
“Frazee is right in the geography of where we have existing stores, maintenance people and district managers,” Orton said. “If you go down Highway 10, we’ve got sites in Staples and Motley, also.”
Orton discussed how the Frazee store being the only one in town was not as monopolizing as one would think without a location on the highway and no other in-town competition. He also noted that All in All did a good job of providing quality service to keep local customers at home.
“The store already captures the local market because there is one in town,” he said. “It cuts both ways. I’m not asking for more competitors.”
Orton also acknowledged the recent improvements, including trails, Wannigan Park and additions to the retail market
“I agree,” he said. “Communities like Frazee are very familiar to us. We have a lot of stores in towns of 1,000-2,500 in population. Things that we like about Frazee is they have a school and anchored business around it.”
Orton noted that the most recent acquisitions of the company, Pelican Rapids, Frazee and Fosston are all relatively similar, much like the company’s home town of Walker.
