Cross country teams kick off season at Perham meet

The Frazee cross country teams got a jump start to their season on Saturday as they participated in the annual Brave Like Gabe Invitational in Perham. The Hornets competed in the black division in a meet that featured 38 teams from the Dakotas all the way to the Twin Cities metro area.
On the boys side the Hornets were led by eighth grader Matthew Sharp who took 34th place with a time of 19:38. Junior Paul Sharp posted an impressive time of 20:23.9 to finish in 51st place, while Hunter Piekarski took 64th place with a time of 20:55,7 and Talon Hoverson finished in 87th place with a time of 22:31.3.
On the girls side, freshman Rilynn Ruiz led the charge for the Hornets as she finished in 27th place with a time of 22:35.9. Senior Bristol Larsen took 39th place with a time of 23:25.8, Brylee Anderson finished in 87th place with a time of 30:12.5 and Ella Johnson rounded out the Hornet charge in 93rd place with a time of 32:15.6.
Frazee will return to action on September 10 when they travel to Detroit Lakes Country Club for an invite.
