Ruiz takes 23rd place at DL Rotary cross country meet

Freshman Rilynn Ruiz led the Frazee charge at the Detroit Lakes Rotary cross country invitational on Thursday afternoon at the Detroit Lakes Country Club. Ruiz took 23rd place individually with a time of 22:39.6, while senior Bristol Larsen took 34th place with a time of 23:53.8 to help the Hornet cause.

Alydia Mitchell and Brylee Anderson ran solid races for Frazee as they finished in 57th and 58th place respectively with times of 27:29 and 27:59. Zoey St. Germain finished in 60th place with a time of 28:48.5, Madilyn Perrine finished in 62nd place with a time of 30:49.1 and Ella Johnson took 63rd place with a time of 31:34.7.
As a team the Hornet girls took ninth place with 226 points. Perham won the meet with 39 points, while Alexandria took second place with 56 points. The Hornets finished in front of Detroit Lakes who took ninth place with 233 points.
On the boys side, Coltyn Pender led the way as he took 35th place with a time of 19:20.3. Matthew Sharp was right on his heels has he took 46th place with a time of 20:09.6. Paul Sharp took 48th place with a time of 20:20.1, Hunter Piekarski took 55th place with a time of 2:15.6 and Talon Hoverson took 58th place with a time of 21:44.9.
As a team, the Hornet boys took ninth place overall with 242 points. Perham finished in first place with 26 points, while Alexandria took second place with 57 points.
This week the Hornets will travel to Long Prairie-Grey Eagle for their only meet of the week on Monday, before not returning to action until Tuesday, Sept. 22 when they had to Bagley for a large invite at Twin Pines Golf Course.
