On a positive side, Frazee played one of its best games all season. On the down side, it came against one of the top teams in the section and state-ranked Breckenridge as the Hornets were unable to find the end zone on their way to a 27-2 loss to the Cowboys.

“They are a very solid team. We played well, better than we have played all year,” said head coach Russ Hackel.

Hackel said the Hornet defense played solid throughout the night as they held Breckenridge off the scoreboard for the entirety of the first half. In fact, the score was just 14-2 in favor of the Cowboys with three minutes left in the game when Frazee put its subs in the game.
The Cowboys kept their starters on the field and went on to score two touchdowns in the final three minutes of the game with the outcome already decided.

“The biggest thing is we subbed down and they didn’t,” said Hackel.

This week the Hornets, who are 0-3 on the season, will look to get in the win column as they travel to winless New York Mills. 

The Eagles come into the game averaging 4.7 points per game on offense, while surrendering 34.3 points per game on defense. On Friday night they fell to Parkers Prairie by a score of 42-8.

The Hornets come into the game averaging 11.7 points per game on offense, while surrendering 22.3 points per game on defense.

Hackel said Frazee will need to continue to improve and limit the mistakes in order to get in the win column. 

“We have to keep getting better and stop making mistakes that is kind of what is getting us the most,” he said.
