Hornets take fifth, seventh place at Fergus Falls meet

The Frazee Hornets made the trek the Fergus Falls last week for the annual John Hermes Invitational and fared well against a number of Class AA schools.
Freshman Rilynn Ruiz led the way for the Hornets as she finished in 13th place with a time of 21:49.2, while senior Bristol Larsen finished in 21st place with a time of 23:12.5. Brenna Swenson finished in 30th place with a time of 24:15.3, Alydia Mitchell finished in 34th place with a time of 24:58.4, Brooklynn Riewer finished in 39th place with a time of 25:18.2, Zoey St. Germain finished in 42nd place with a time of 26:12.3 and Brylee Anderson finished in 44th place with a time of 27:45.3.
As a team, Frazee finished in fifth place out of seven complete teams with 137 points. Alexandria finished in first place with 46 points, while Fergus Falls took second with 48 points. Crosby-Ironton finished in third place with 50 points and West Central Area took fourth with 126 points. Breckenridge/Wahpeton finished sixth with 156 points and Detroit Lakes finished in seventh place with 170 points.
On the boys side, Talon Hoverson led the charge as the junior finished in 32nd place with a time of 19:06.9. Coltyn Pender finished in 39th place with a time of 19:39.6, Matthew Sharp finished in 40th place with a time of 19:39.7, Hunter Piekarski finished in 42nd place with a time of 20:46.7 and Paul Sharp finished in 43rd place with a time of 20:47.8.
As a team the Hornets finished in seventh place with a score of 196. Alexandria won the meet with 23 points, while Fergus Falls finished in second place with 73 points. Detroit Lakes finished in third place with 84 points, Crosby-Ironton took fourth place with 88 points, West Central Area finished in fifth place with 108 points and Breckenridge-Wahpeton finished in sixth place with 157 points.
This week the Hornets will travel to Hawley for an invite in their lone action of the week.
