The next time you arrive at Wannigan, something new may be waiting to welcome you.
Andie Hetland is entering the final stretch toward earning the rank of Eagle Scout, and he has chosen Wannigan Regional Park for his Eagle Scout Service Project.
In partnership with the North Country Trail Association, Andie is working to construct a beautiful trailhead archway and information kiosk. The arch will create a distinctive welcome to the trail, while the kiosk will give hikers and visitors a place to find maps, local information, trail updates and important safety information.
And we love this part: this isn’t simply a project to check a box. Andie is helping create something that thousands of future hikers and families could use for years to come.
His project requires fundraising for timber, hardware, concrete, roofing materials, weatherproof signage and other supplies needed to bring the vision to life.
That’s what community looks like: one person using their talents to leave a place better than they found it.
Way to go, Andie. We can’t wait to walk under that arch!
