Every young person deserves a place to belong, and every family deserves a community they can count on. That belief continues to guide the work happening at CornerStone: Community, Youth & Family Resource Center, where exciting opportunities are growing for youth, families, and neighbors.

CornerStone’s G.R.O.W. Coalition has been awarded funding through the Drug-Free Communities (DFC) Support Program, a federal initiative of the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP), managed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

This grant will strengthen local efforts to prevent youth substance use by bringing together youth, families, schools, businesses, healthcare providers, and community partners. Through youth leadership, education, positive social norms, and community involvement, the coalition will work to create an environment where healthy choices are supported and young people can thrive.

Prevention starts long before challenges arise. It begins with strong families, positive relationships, and a community where people feel connected.

Much of CornerStone’s work is guided by the Five Protective Factors, which help strengthen families and build resilience. These include parental resilience, social connections, knowledge of parenting and child development, concrete support in times of need, and the social and emotional competence of children. In everyday life, this means having someone to turn to, a safe place for youth after school and during the summer, opportunities to learn and grow, and access to support when life gets difficult.

Family Resource Center Expansion & Community Open House

CornerStone is also expanding to create more opportunities for family support, resource connections, and community activities.

While construction is still underway, CornerStone is inviting the community to come see the progress and help shape the new space!

Family Resource Center Open House

Wednesday, Nov. 4

5–7 p.m.

Corner Collective Bistro (upper level of CornerStone)

300 2nd Street NW, Frazee, MN

Neighbors of all ages are invited to tour the new wing, hear construction updates, and share ideas. CornerStone is looking for community input on encouraging words for the Youth Center ramp walls, pictures and artwork for the new space, welcoming paint colors, and what people are most excited about. Stop by anytime between 5 pm and 7 pm.

Both the DFC grant and Family Resource Center expansion are investments in the future of Frazee. With the continued involvement of youth, families, volunteers, local businesses, and community partners, CornerStone is creating more opportunities for people to connect, contribute, and belong.

Belonging Builds Everything.
