Notes from the police
Hello, Officer Scott Luhman here, we have a little bit of change up this week. Chief Tyler Trieglaff decided to take the week off to catch up on some farm work, or make sure he can take an extra nap every day.
Over the weekend, Tyler and I looked over the city and conducted some city ordinance enforcement of the Title 4, Chapter 3 Blight ordinance.
We found 17 properties with motor vehicles that appear to be inoperable vehicles.
This is anything from expired registration to vehicles that appear to have been not driven or in disrepair.
Letters were sent out to the owners of the property asking them to get into compliance with the ordinance. We will be reviewing the properties in about a month or so to see if the problems have been corrected.
We will also be keeping an eye out for other blight related issues like yards that are full of junk and garbage, and grass that is not getting mowed. The city requires you to keep your grass below six inches in length. As Tyler says in our letters “A clean town is a happy town!”
Wednesday was our last day of school and with that we have seen a few problems involving some of our youth. Ryan has been on the lookout at night for any shenanigans going and has already had a curfew issue and some kids smoking in the park. There was also a game of ding dong ditch played that scared the homeowner to the point she thought someone was trying to kick in her front door and chased them off with a shotgun.
Please keep tabs on your kids this summer so we don’t get to know them on a first name basis and everyone can have a fun, safe, and relaxing summer.
