Cross country team competes at Border Battle

0Nearly 60 teams compete in Grand Forks

The Frazee Hornets competed in a pair of meets last week, including one that featured nearly 60 teams from across Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota and Canada.
After traveling to the Bagley/Fosston Invitational on Tuesday, the Hornets traveled to Grand Forks on Saturday for the first-ever Border Battle.
This week the Hornets have just one meet on their schedule and will travel to Hawley on Thursday.
Tuesday
The Hornet boys and girls teams both finished in ninth place at the Bagley/Fosston Invitational on Tuesday night.
Bailey Larsen paced the girls team with a time of 24.48.10, which was good enough for 46th place overall. She was followed closely by seventh grader Madi Perrine who finished in 56th place with a time of 25:19.80, freshman Lola Hoehne in 57th place with a time of 25:25.30, Amanda Danielson in 69th place with a time of 26:23.50, eighth grader Bristol Larsen in 70th place with a time of 26:28.30 and ninth grader Caleigh Pausch in 73rd place with a time of 26:49.20.
On the boys side, Jonah Sharp led the Frazee charge with a time of 19:32.90, which was good enough for 30th place. He was followed by Cael Pausch in 33rd place with a time of 19:44.30, Brady Borah in 47th place with a time of 20:18.70, Alexx Helmers in 76th place with a time of 22:14.20, Tyden Schaefer in 83rd place with a time of 22:36.20 and Daniel Winn in 107th place with a time of 27:08.20.
Saturday
Frazee competed in one of the largest cross country meets of the season on Saturday. Nearly 60 teams competed in the Border Battle at Grand Forks. This was the first time the large meet was held and replaced the Milaca Mega Meet, which was long proclaimed as the “largest cross country meet in the world.” That meet was canceled after being held for the past 50 years.
The Border Battle featured teams in multiple divisions based on school size from Minnesota, South Dakota, North Dakota and Canada.
On the boys side, freshman Jonah Sharp was the first Frazee runner to cross the finish line with a time of 19:15.87. He finished in 70th place overall. He was followed by Brady Borah in 90th place with a time of 19:50.44, Cael Pausch in 97th place with a time of 19:59.44, Alexx Helmers in 124th place with a time of 20:49.07, Tyden Schaefer in 158th place with a time of 22:06.90, Hunter Lyman in 169th place with a time of 24:16.81 and Daniel Winn in 175th place with a time of 25:43.77.
As a team, the Hornets finished in 21st place out of 25 teams. The meet was won by Bowman High School.
On the girls side, Bailey Larsen was the first Hornet to cross the finish line with a time of 23:39.24. The senior finished in 77th place overall. She was followed by Lola Hoehne in 98th place with a time of 24:46.14, Amanda Danielson in 102nd place with a time of 25:14.76 and Caleigh Pausch in 111th place with a time of 26:03.14.
