Notes from the Chief

The first crop of hay has been put up and we have started on the second crop. Second crop will be about one quarter of the first crop as this little drought we are in doesn’t help the grasses grow. 

The alfalfa is doing ok, but we are very short on the rainfall we need. The corn crop is starting to tassel but is a bit shorter than usual. Hopefully we can have all the second crop cut and baled before Turkey Days and the weather is looking pretty fair for that to happen. 

The pastures seem to be holding up as we have fewer animals in the pastures as compared to the past as we are implementing the new pasture rotation and also acquired a new pasture for 15 pairs and a bull.  

Turkey Days will soon be upon us. There are a few things I would like to remind you about.  Alcohol is not allowed on the public street, please keep it in your private yards or within the fenced areas of the events going on. The fireworks will be in the same place as last year so the best locations to watch are the Red Willow open lots along Highway 29 and the practice football field area. The new football field and track are off limits as they are not quite ready for spectators yet. 

Please be safe and make good decisions as we don’t want to have to give you a ride if you make a poor choice.

Friday, July 14

11:29 a.m. Officer stand by while male party retrieves belongings from property per court order.

12:18 p.m. Vehicle parked across the new sidewalk on Lake St S. Vehicle left as officer pulled up.

6:18 p.m. Assist homeowners with options regarding the sewer backing up into their basement.  Officer talked with public works and offered ideas for the weekend.

Monday, July 17

11:11 a.m. Assist with a medical.

1:40 p.m. Driving complaint coming into Frazee. Unable to locate.

2:14 p.m. Male party had some expletive pleasantries for an officer as the officer was driving past.

4:25 p.m. Report of male and female arguing near town.

6 p.m. Report of a missing temporary license tag from a newly purchased vehicle. Unknown if it was stolen or fell off.

Tuesday, July 18

11 p.m. Resident reporting some kids running around near her house. Officer found some kids, but they did not match the description given.

Wednesday, July 19

1:42 p.m. Female reporting that her car is missing. Called to ask if the police towed her car from the trailer park. Officer mediated the situation and found out that the property owners had the vehicle towed.

2:10 p.m. Officer talked with a business owner about controlling the weeds on their property.

7 p.m. Male party calling to look for options regarding seeing his kids. Officer gave the advice that he needed to get custody established through the courts.

9:28 p.m. Complaint of a camper parked in a front yard, possibly people living in the camper.

12:02 a.m. Abandoned bicycle next to the skating rink.

12:09 a.m. Officer found an open door on a business. It seemed that the door was left open by accident, nothing out of place. Officer talked with staff the next night.

Thursday, July 20

11:24 a.m. Assist with a medical.

12:06 p.m. Parking complaint on Lake St. N. as a driver was watching the demolition of the old drug store.

1:15 p.m. Vehicle parked in the no parking zone across from the gas station. Driver was coming out of the gas station and left right away.

2:55 p.m. Assist with a medical.

8:48 p.m. Report of a fake $100 bill being used at a business. Under investigation.
